Sonic and Tails, Barefoot Buddies?

There have been various occasional moments where Sonic and Tails appear barefoot.  Although many of which only one of them does.  During the old cartoon Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (Aosth), Sonic and Tails only appear barefoot together at the end of one particular episode near the start of the series where they’re lying on a beach together, and their feet match their fur color and have two pointy toes each.  Many episodes afterwards, Sonic appears barefoot (or his toes are just shown coming out of his shoe) in only a few episodes, and his feet had been converted to pale skin (other than blue fur) and had three toes each.  It was only after all that Tails finally makes a barefoot appearance with orange furry feet, each baring four human-like toes with nail lines.  A few episodes later he appears barefoot again but with just the one shoe off, and his furry orange foot is all round and flat with three toes as flat as his foot. 

However, Sonic and Tails have appeared barefoot many more times in the Archie comic series.  Although neither of them had so for many years now, Sonic made quite a few barefoot appearances in some of the earlier issues.  Tails didn't make any barefoot appearances up until issue #58, where he underwent tickle interrogation on his furry orange four-toed, human-like feet.  Tails also made barefoot appearances in issues involving flashbacks to their childhood, when he didn't wear shoes and instead had three toes on each foot.  The only issue where they both made a barefoot seen was #94, where they both jumped out of bed in shock, each showing human-like feet with sole texture and five toes each.

The reason that I'm bringing this all up was because last night I had a dream where Sonic and Tails are bought somewhere, and while sitting in a waiting room some robotic arms come down from the ceiling and take off their shoes.  Then Tails something about not knowing that bare feet was a "footwear requirement".  I can't really give you that much more detail about else was going on in the dream, but it did made me think about writing another fanfic where Sonic and Tails actually appear barefoot together.  I've also realized that out of all my fanfics that consist of Sonic and Tails, Sonic and Tails Tickle Tortured is the only one where they're shoeless on the same occasion.  However, I'm currently lacking background detail for how this new story will play out.  So if anyone has any suggestions, please leave a comment with the details.
